Further implementing Presidents Obama and Mexico’s President Felipe Calderon’s commitment to build a 21st century border that promotes economic competitiveness while enhancing security, the United States and Mexico began operating a new border crossing called “San Luis II” in San Luis, Arizona and San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora.

This new commercial border crossing will greatly improve traffic flows in both cities and lessen citizens’ exposure to diesel fumes from idling trucks, while expediting the safe processing of commercial cargo.

This January, the United States and Mexico opened the Anzalduas International Bridge between McAllen, Texas and Reynosa, Tamaulipas, the first new US-Mexico bridge in 10 years. These openings, along with multi-million dollar expansion and renovation projects at several other critical border crossings, will improve the flow of trade and enhance the safety, security, and environment of our border with Mexico.
